The Milton Erickson Institute of Houston
The Milton Erickson Institute of Houston is an educational and training institute whose purpose is the promotion and advancement of Ericksonian approaches to hypnosis and psychotherapy. Milton H. Erickson, M.D. (1901-1980) was the pioneer in the fields of clinical hypnosis and strategic psychotherapy. His innovative and unique style of therapy was often dramatically effective, and attracted the attention of such intellectual giants as Gregory Bateson, Aldous Huxley, and Margret Mead. Erickson’s approach was both unconventional and pragmatic, and his influence is evident in such diverse treatment approaches as individual psychotherapy, marital therapy, sex therapy, and family therapy, as well as clinical hypnosis.
The Milton H. Erickson Institute of Houston is dedicated to the belief that psychotherapy is most effective when it is tailored to the individuals and families treatment, and is respectful of each person’s uniqueness and individuality. The faculty of the institute is multidisciplinary, with backgrounds in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and family therapy.
The Institute is affiliated with the Institutes of Texas, located in Houston and Austin and is licensed by The Milton H. Erickson Foundation and approved by ASCH to offer training.
